UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND FELLOWSHIPS AMBASSADORS
Undergraduate Research and Fellowships Ambassadors serve as student representatives of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships. They are engaged in research activities and have direct experience in applying for national awards.
Our diverse group of ambassadors is available to share their experiences and information about our office’s support services with classes, student organizations and departments.

Meet Our Ambassadors

BAILEY HATCHETT
Junior, Spanish and Finance double major
Winston-Salem, N.C.
Bailey is a Presidential Scholar and has applied for and been awarded other Georgia State scholarships. She is also a member of the Georgia State Beach Volleyball team, 1913 Society, SAAC and runs a volunteer program with the Honors College and Athletic Department.
Bailey is interested in studying abroad to enrich her understanding of Latino culture and language. After graduation, she plans to pursue a graduate degree and career in international business or real estate and use Spanish both personally and professionally.
DYL HENDERSON
Sophomore, Anthropology Major with a Minor in Arabic
Decatur, GA
Dyl Henderson (he/they) is a second-year Latinx undergraduate student at Georgia State University majoring in Anthropology and minoring in Arabic. Before joining GSU as a Presidential Scholar in 2020, he studied Arabic in Rabat, Morocco for six months through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth program. Having previously served as the regional NSLI-Y Alumni Ambassador and currently working as an Undergraduate Researcher, Dyl is passionate about empowering his fellow students in their own pursuits of research and study abroad. Dyl hopes to become involved in language education with Arabic-speaking communities across the Global South. His work as a Student Ambassador with the Office of Undergraduate Fellowships and Research will help him further develop his public speaking and outreach skills necessary for his future education.


ESTHER HYACINTH
Senior, Biology Major
Portsmouth, Dominica
Esther hopes to pursue a career in medicine or education. Utilizing her knowledge and experiences gained as a student, Esther enjoys assisting her peers as a tutor at the Learning and Tutoring Center and as a senior supplemental instruction leader. She was named a Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship 2020 semifinalist and credits her success as a student to the support of a community of professors, students and family.
QUINN O’GRADY
Sophomore, Physics Major
Concentration in Applied Physics and Minor in Computer Science
Cumming, GA
Quinn is the recipient of the Berner Scholarship. He has been through the application process for a couple of other national awards and fellowships, such as the UK Fulbright Summer Institute Program. Quinn participates in astrophysics research under Stuart Jefferies at Georgia State, investigating the concept of super-resolution in the field of optics. After college, Quinn hopes to pursue a career in mechanical engineering, with a special interest in automotives.


EBI POWEIGHA
Junior, Applied Linguistics major
Ebi is a third-year Applied Linguistics major and a 2021-2022 FLAS (Foreign Language and Area Studies) Fellow for Japanese. She also studies Chinese and presented research on the phonology of Mandarin Chinese at the Southern Regional Honors Council, Georgia Collegiate Honors Council, and Georgia State Undergraduate Research conferences. Ebi hopes to create programs that remove geographical obstacles to language learning.
GYANDEEP REDDY VULUPALA
Sophomore, Computer Science Major
Alpharetta, GA
Gyandeep worked as a research assistant to develop an artificial intelligence scaffolding system that helps students write evidence-supported expository essays. During his leisure, he likes to spend time with nature and read books. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school and pursue a data science career or work as a software engineer.
