ABOUT GSURC
GSURC, the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate research conference that highlights and recognizes the research taking place across Georgia State’s campus. Each year we invite Georgia State undergraduate students to submit their scholarly and creative projects as posters, oral presentations and artistic or creative presentations.
GSURC Awards
All GSURC presentations are automatically evaluated by panels of faculty judges for consideration for awards in a variety of categories:
Artistic Displays
First, second and third place awards are given to the most outstanding artistic displays presented at the conference.
Film Displays
First and second-place awards are given to the two highest-scoring film presentations at the conference.
Musical Performances
First and second-place awards are given to the two highest-scoring musical performances at the conference.
Oral and Poster Presentations
First and second-place awards are given to the two highest-scoring poster and oral presentations in each category of the following categories:
• Natural and Computational Sciences
Disciplines in this category typically include (but are not limited to): Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Game Design, Game Development, Geosciences, Mathematics & Statistics, Neuroscience, Physics and Astronomy
• Social and Behavioral Sciences
Disciplines in this category typically include (but are not limited to): African American Studies, Anthropology, Applied Linguistics, Communication, History, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, Sociology, World Languages and Cultures
• Fine Arts and Humanities
Disciplines in this category typically include (but are not limited to): African American Studies, Art & Design, Communication, English, Music Education, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Women’s Gender and Sociology Studies, World Languages and Cultures
• Applied Research and Entrepreneurship
This award category recognizes projects from all disciplines that are designed to solve practical problems, evaluate the efficacy of existing approaches, and develop new products, technologies, and processes. Most projects from business, public health, policy studies, or education disciplines would likely fit into this category.
Provost Awards
The highest awards presented at GSURC are the Provost Awards. These awards recognize the most outstanding poster presentation and the most outstanding oral presentation from across all categories.
