HONORS THESIS
What is an honors thesis?
The honors thesis is an opportunity for students to engage in scholarship and professional activity with a faculty mentor that cannot be paralleled by any classroom experience. The thesis improves student marketability by providing students with advanced academic experience, detailed meaningful reference letters from their mentors, and tangible products to show admissions committees and prospective employers.
How do I get started?
- Read the thesis guidelines to familiarize yourself with the thesis requirements and deadlines. The thesis guidelines are below
- Find a mentor. You will need a mentor to participate in research, present at the Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference and to conduct an honors thesis.
- Fill out the Intent to Conduct an Honors Thesis Form; this form will reopen in February.
The Honors College is moving to a system in which the Honors College provides general parameters for the thesis and departments provide specific guidelines that are appropriate to their discipline. If your department does not have specific guidelines at this time, please follow the general Honors College guidelines. In order to finalize your thesis, you will need to submit a certification form by the last day of final exams during the semester in which the thesis is completed.
