Honors College Spring Graduation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 2:00pm in the Student Center East Ballrooms. Graduates must arrive by 1:00pm to participate in the ceremony. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
Students who are in good standing with the Honors College will receive an email invitation to the Honors College graduation ceremony approximately 4 to 6 weeks in advance. If you are unsure of whether or not you are eligible to receive Honors recognition, please contact your Honors College Academic Advisor.
Is there an event check-in and line-up process for students?
Yes! Students must arrive at the location of their ceremony at least 45 minutes prior to the start time to check in. It is very important for students to check in prior to the ceremony to ensure their correct name and accomplishments are read as they cross the stage. Students will wait in a graduate line-up area prior to the ceremony. During the ceremony, students will sit in the reserved seating section.
Is parking available for graduates, family and guests?
Parking is NOT provided, however there are several on and off-campus paid lots nearby. Feel free to visit Visitors Parking – Parking & Transportation (gsu.edu) for an extensive list of options.
Do I need to RSVP for the Honors College Ceremony?
Yes! It is very important to submit your response(yes/no) for the Honors College Ceremony even if you are unable to attend. An email invitation for the Honors College graduation ceremony is sent out approximately 4 to 6 weeks in advance.
What should I wear?
Attire for the ceremony is Business or Snappy Casual. Not too formal, yet not too casual.
Do I/Should I wear regalia?
You may wish to do so, but typically regalia is reserved for the overall Georgia State University graduation ceremony.
Can I still attend even if I haven’t completed an Honors Laureate?
Yes. If you received an invitation to attend from the Honors College, then you are in good academic standing, and we would love for you to join us.
What do I receive at the ceremony?
All attendees will receive an Honors cord and alumni pin. Medallions will be given to students who have earned an Honors Laureate.
Does Honors appear on my diploma and transcript?
The Honors Laureate will appear on your transcript only; for Honors students who have not completed a Laureate, individual Honors courses can be identified on the student’s transcript.
Will there be reserved seating?
Yes, but just for graduating students. We will reserve seats for graduating students in the front few rows. Family and guests will not have reserved seating and instead will have access to seats on a first-come, first-served basis.
I can’t attend. Can I pick up my cord, alumni pin and laureate medallion (if applicable) early?
Yes, students may pick up their cords and alumni pins from the Honors College front desk beginning the week prior to graduation. If you received an Honors Laureate, you may also pick up your medallion at that time. We are located on the 2nd floor of Centennial Hall, 100 Auburn Ave. NE, Atlanta, GA 30303. Our office hours are 8:30am – 5:15pm, Monday – Friday.
