Faculty Associate for Honors College Internships
Eligible applicants
Full-time, permanent faculty (e.g., TT or NTT faculty). Visiting lecturers are not eligible to apply.
Length of appointment
1-year appointment with expectation for renewal. The position will begin August 1, 2016.
Compensation
Compensation will be through a 10-month administrative stipend.
Selection
Applicants will submit a cover letter and CV. Prior experience serving the Honors College as a Faculty Affiliate or related role is preferred. Competitive applicants will be invited to an interview.
Rationale
Honors Colleges should offer distinctive curricular opportunities beyond the classroom. To date, the Honors College has experienced success with its growing internship program with national and international placements. The faculty associate for Honors College internships will advance the Honors College strategic plan by establishing a program specific to the Honors College with Atlanta-based, regional, and national, high-quality internships in the humanities, social sciences and STEM areas.
Responsibilities
The Associate for Honors College Internships will work with the dean, associate dean and relevant staff to:
- Attend Honors College staff meetings as possible.
- Increase the number of Atlanta-based, regional, and national internships available to Honors College students.
- Recruit and provide tangible support to students applying for internships.
- Supervise student blogs about internship experiences.
- Hold regular office hours to consult with students on the internship application process, expectations for internship performance, and support through the internship.
- Work with the Honors College director of communications to build a comprehensive communication plan to market the program and highlight outstanding student experiences and contributions to their placements.
- Develop an evaluation process and implement it on an annual basis.
