Faculty Associate for DISCOVERY
Eligible applicants
Full-time, permanent faculty (e.g., TT or NTT faculty). Visiting lecturers are not eligible to apply.
Length of appointment
1-year appointment with expectation for renewal. The position will begin August 1, 2016.
Compensation
Compensation will be through 10-month administrative period.
Selection
Applicants will submit a cover letter and CV. Prior experience serving the Honors College as a Faculty Affiliate or related role is preferred. Competitive applicants will be invited to an interview.
Rationale
Undergraduate research across the university’s colleges is one of the great advantages an honors college within a large public university confers and is an expected part of an honors college experience. The faculty associate for DISCOVERY will advance the Honors College strategic plan by disseminating undergraduate research through online publication in ScholarWorks.
Responsibilities
The Associate for DISCOVERY will work with the associate dean and relevant staff to:
- Attend Honors College staff meetings as possible.
- Recruit and train faculty consulting editors.
- Recruit and train student associate editors.
- Publicize the opportunity for undergraduates to submit papers.
- Liaise with departments/institutes to increase student submissions.
- Hold regular office hours to consult with students on the publication process, and participate in relevant Honors College co-curricular programming.
- Ensure the publication of at least one volume per year.
- Work with the Honors College director of communications to highlight outstanding contributions to the journal.
- Develop an evaluation process and implement it on an annual basis.
